James Larson

James Larson is Audioholics' primary loudspeaker and subwoofer reviewer on account of his deep knowledge of loudspeaker functioning and performance and also his overall enthusiasm toward moving the state of audio science forward. He has been trained by leading industry researchers in the art of loudspeaker measuring and performance assessment so that the accuracy of his reviews' measurements have been verified by experts from a variety of leading audio companies such as Revel and Sound United. James' science-based approach gives his reviews a more even-handed and neutral stance since he gives at least as much space to objective assessments of loudspeaker measurements and engineering analysis as he does for reportage of subjective experiences with the products under review. Among his accomplishments, he has become the first third-party reviewer to use CEA-2034 type measurement in his coverage. He has also developed new ways of looking at subwoofer performance that examines the growth of non-linear behavior from nominal to maximum amplitude levels.
