Niles CM4PR Compact In-Ceiling 4" Speakers Preview

We reviewed hands-on the new CM Series Ceiling Mount Loudspeakers from Niles and found them to be excellent - both in quality and ease-of-installation. Rather than simply update over time, Niles continues to innovate, and their latest model was revealed this week at the Hilton. It's the compact CM4PR. The CM4PR is the company’s first-ever compact ceiling mount loudspeaker and it comes with only a four-inch footprint. It's Niles' first small, designer-friendly loudspeaker to deliver its signature audiophile grade performance while being able to locate itself in aesthetically pleasing, unobtrusive areas.

Practically speaking, the CM4PR is a 4" compact ceiling mount loudspeaker designed with a computer optimized Linkwitz Riley crossover. It includes Niles' Rear Wave Control backbox that tunes the sound and also serves to inhibit sound transfer to adjacent rooms. The speaker’s magnetically attached MicroThin speaker grilles can be ordered in square or round configurations and ensure a clean, virtually invisible appearance that blends with the aesthetics of any room. You can even paint them to match any decor and the grilles are rust-resistant, so you can install the loudspeakers in moisture-prone areas such as saunas, bathrooms and even outdoors under eaves. Niles includes their Limited Lifetime Warranty so both dealers and homeowners are covered.

The CM4PR features an extremely rigid mineral-filled polypropylene cone that reduces breakup, lowers distortion and provides enhanced bass response. The butyl rubber surround damps resonance and provides exceptional durability while the 1” fluid-cooled "Teteron" dome tweeter is designed to produce ultra wide dispersion. The compact CM4PR ceiling mount speaker has a stated frequency response of 70Hz-21kHz and Niles recommends using an amplifier rated from 25 to 100 Watts.
