Yamaha NS-800A Bookshelf Loudspeaker Overview
The Yamaha NS-800A are an impressive pair of bookshelf speakers, designed to the same high standards as its larger sibling, the NS-2000A tower speakers. Yamaha built the NS-800A bookshelf and NS-2000A towers to match the same attention to every small detail that went into engineering its new premium line of hi-fi receivers and amplifiers with signature retro designs. Retro design is no mere esthetic choice, all of the new equipment from Yamaha's new premium lineup is built with an ethic that hearkens back to a time when every part that went into audio equipment was high-quality, high-capacity and built to exceed expectations.
Standing at 16-inches tall, 9-inches wide and 14-inches deep, each NS-800A two-way speaker contains a 1.25-inch dome tweeter and a 6.5-inch cone woofer. The cabinets were designed with Yamaha’s vibration analysis process using laser vibrometers and contain its own patented Acoustic Absorbers and Resonance Suppression technologies to mitigate unwanted vibrations. More technology went into resonance control of the NS-800A boxes than most manufacturers put into their whole speaker! But Yamaha’s craftsmanship and attention to detail doesn't end there. Like its big brother NS-2000A, the drivers employ the unique Harmonious Diaphragm technology made from a composite of Zylon and spruce, the same grade of spruce used in Yamaha piano soundboards. The music company says the unique driver composition creates a faithful tonal balance and with over 100 years experience making musical instruments, Yamaha probably knows a thing or two about tonal quality.

The crossovers inside the NS-800A are made with flagship components
including the audio-specialized capacitance of Mcap Supreme by Mundorf of
Germany and Air Core inductor coils. The authentic, high-gloss grand piano
finish makes a statement of sheer loudspeaker luxury and Yamaha’s
commitment to high-end quality. From its
acoustically transparent grilles to its five-way binding posts cut from
solid brass, these loudspeakers are designed for sophisticated
high-performance.

The finishing touch for your NS-800A bookshelf loudspeakers may be the optional SPS-800A stands, not included with the speakers. These high quality stands will further guard against unwanted vibrations from surface contact and allow more flexible speaker placement. They may call this category of loudspeaker bookshelf, but an actual bookshelf may not provide optimal placement or positioning. The SPS-800A stands on the other hand are built specifically for the NS-800A speakers to provide rigidity, minimize sound reflections and are designed with the same smooth curves as the NS-800A speakers themselves. Optional carpet spikes and a set of screws to lock the speakers to the stands are included.
