RBH Sound Signature T-2 System Demo
Now to a system which needs no introduction; Gene and Steve's reference speakers, the beautifully constructed and great sounding RBH T-2 Signature Series ($10500/pair). I'm showing a shot here not so much for the sake of the T-2 but to point out the single 4'W x 7'H x 2"D absorptive panel System Designer Shane Rich uses to damp out first reflections. We know most of you have seen shots of the tweakier speaker vendor's rooms with multiple round tubes behind the speakers and baffling haphazardly tacked all over the walls of their suites. We're here to tell you to look at an example of what a company like RBH, with solidly engineered speakers, understands about the room/speaker interface. Getting rid of left and right first order reflections along with clever placement of the 5.25" midrange drivers on the baffle a reall that was needed to elicit a solid center image from a speaker capable of tremendous dynamic range.
I was very impressed, by the way, with my first short listen to the T-2s. And sorry we didn't have a wider angle picture of the room because it would have shown no garden-hose diameter speaker wires or power cords; no mono tube amplifiers in the room's center mounted a top some sort of isolation device and no multi-thousand dollar LP disc spinning device. Just a not too expensive CD player and integrated amplifier from Sim Audio. Design your speakers correctly, get the first reflections out of the room sound equation and you're almost always 98% home.
