Impact Acoustics Debuts Line of HDMI and DVI Cables

Impact Acoustics debuted its line of HDMI, DVI and HDMI-to-DVI interconnects at the CES show. Rich, heavy packaging on all the SonicWave level of product really makes this line stand out against similarly priced competition. In fact, this packaging allows you to open the magnetic hinge and physically handle the cables and connectors in a retail location (more below). We examined the cables and found the connectors to be high quality milled metal and the contact points were all gold-plated. The cables themselves had the heft and feel of quality, and a surprising attribute for a line of interconnects priced a bout 30% below most similar offerings from other manufacturers. As an interesting a side, all the Impact Acoustics DVI interconnects are DVI-D (digital) and are of dual-link construction. Dual link is fully compatible with single-link, which is the only standard in current use on current CE products. The advantage of dual link is that when (if?) manufacturers ever introduce 1080p sources, your cables will be ready. Buy now and you'll never have to upgrade.

Other new and interesting introductions included a break- apart SVGA cable. The design of this cable allows one to remove one of the larger HD15 connectors at a cannon plug purpose-designed for the application, making the diameter of the cable small enough to run through a one-inch conduit - or through a one-inch drilled hole through a wall or cabinet. Convenience reigns supreme with the designers of Impact Acoustics' products!

In addition to the awesome build quality of the new Impact Acoustics HDMI and DVI cables, what really got our attention (at least initially) was the slick packaging including a magnetic latch that opens and closes the box. You definitely don't want to simply discard these boxes after you take the cables out. They are just too cool.
