JBL Performance Series Speakers

JBL showed off a very impressive line of speakers called the Performance Series. The three Performance Series loudspeaker modules cover a multitude of applications from premium two-channel stereo to custom 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 surround systems. The PT800 speaker can be used as a front-left or front-right speaker, a surround speaker or a stand-alone speaker, and is designed to be docked to the PS1400 subwoofer. When docked, crossover points are optimized, and the entire sub/tower performs as an integrated floorstanding loudspeaker system. Used separately, the tower is designed for shelf placement or on-wall (brackets included) mounting. Though we don't recommend it, the PT800 can even be mounted in corners (with the optional PCM800 corner-mount bracket) thanks to an ingenious cabinet design.

The 6" depth makes the PT800 tower a good fit for flat-screen television monitors, in fact one of the nicer complementary designs we've seen. The subwoofer, separated from the tower, can be placed anywhere in your room to optimize performance. The PC600 center channel can be placed above, underneath, or in front of the TV on the floor. It comes finished in eyesoft beech, black ash, or natural cherry.

PURE-TITANIUM, INVERTED-DOME MIDRANGE TRANSDUCERS
Seamlessly complement the titanium-dome tweeter and offer nearly perfect pistonic motion that eliminates uncontrollable flexing found in conventional cones. The inverted dome is driven precisely at its center, which cancels resonances inherent in cone materials. The result is ruler-flat frequency response well beyond the crossover point.

TITANIUM-ALLOY, INVERTED-DOME, LOW-FREQUENCY TRANSDUCERS
Deliver precise, undistorted bass reproduction that matches the titanium tweeters and midranges. The powerful neodymium magnet provides its own video-shielding, allowing flexible placement near video monitors. Cast-aluminum frames remain rigid even at the highest volumes, avoiding distortion found in some other speaker designs. And aluminum doesn't affect the magnetic field, so driver movement is precise.

UNIQUE DOCKING SYSTEM WITH ELECTRONIC CROSSOVER 
Combines separate satellite and subwoofer modules which are designed to integrate into one unit that performs as a full-range floorstanding loudspeaker system. Separate full-range speaker-level and LFE inputs reproduce the maximum bass information in both the full-range and .1 channels found in the newest digital surround formats. JBL uses Monster® cables for all internal wiring in Performance Series loudspeakers.

LE14H-3 14" AQUAPLAS-CONE SUBWOOFER 
Is based on the technology used in the massive woofers found in speaker arrays at concerts, arenas, stadiums, movie theaters and other commercial venues that require woofers to play long and loud. The massive 4-inch edge-wound copper voice coil handles the highest levels of power with aplomb, providing distortion-free bass without excessive heat.

FREEFLOW™ PORT ARCHITECTURE 
Extends bass response by coupling internal air motion to a computer-designed aperture that allows maximum air flow without audible "port noise". The result is powerful, room-filling bass from a modestly sized module.
