At the Audioholics 2007 State of the CE Union Event, Emotiva introduced the DRS-1 Subwoofer/Amplifier System, consisting of two subwoofers and an amplifier with auto room correction. Known for their rock solid amps and pre/pros, Emotiva is now jumping into the market with aggressively priced speakers, including this subwoofer system.
The twin subs sport 12" composite fiber reinforced cone woofers in critically damped sealed sub-woofer enclosures with double walled baffles and extensive internal bracing. The cabinets are finished with non-reflective black satin lacquer.
The system includes an outboard amplifier, the DSA-1. With 800 watts of Class D amplification, it also contains Emotiva's proprietary EMOQ auto room correction processing, using an included calibration microphone. The system boasts a frequency response of 20-200hz (+/-2db), and should be available in January of 2008.
We were blown away by the value of the DRS-1 Subwoofer System. Two sealed high pressure boxes each featuring a high excursion 12" woofer, paired with an 800 watt RMS Class D amplifier with room correction, all for $999? This is an amazing value, and we can't wait to get our hands on it here at Audioholics.
