We got to take a look (and listen) to Definitive Technology's new SoloCinema XT Soundbar. It's a fully active system - a full 5.1 channel bar and comes with a 250W wireless subwoofer. It's an ultra slim design, has 3 HDMI inputs, analogue and digital audio inputs and 1 HDMI output. Now, across the front of the physical sound bar there are three MTM (mid-tweeter-mid) speakers, and they use DSP to both increase the front soundstage and also to create the "discrete" surround sound effects channels you hear.
It's also got an ergonomic remote which of course gives you your source selection and volume up and down, but you also get access to Center channel and Bass (subwoofer) volume, which is especially as well as two different listening modes for movies and music. Def Tech's new surround bar looks like a winner and at $1999 its a higher end solution for those who don't want to compromise audio when they implement a more aesthetic audio solution.
