Kimber Kable 4PR & 8PR Speaker Cable Review
[0.28]
by Gene,May 19, 2009 22:35
- I am a big fan of the Kimber 8PR speaker cables. I fell in love with their banana terminations and the quality of materials used in this product. If you are on the market for high end exotic cables and your goal is transparency over glorified tone controls, then I highly recommend the Kimber 8PR speaker cables. It’s refreshing to find an exotic cable vendor that discloses all performance metrics of their products, doesn’t wrap them in snake oil and delivers a reference level performing product that scores high in pride of ownership.

Speaker Cable Faceoff 3 - The DIY Shootout
[0.27]
by Thomas Goldsworthy,April 30, 2005 20:00
- This effort is an offshoot of my search for a decent performing large OD cable, which will be used for my DIY speaker cables. When I bought my first really good pair of speakers, the salesman sort of talked me into a set of Monster MCX-1S cables. I had been/ am a zip cord type of guy and did not know any better. Well, after purchasing those particular cables, and speakers, I had a bit of buyers remorse. Not over the $1400 pair of speakers, but the $75 pair of cables. Ever wonder how DIY speaker cables compare to the name brands? Wonder no more. We have the definitive guide.

RedMere Active HDMI Technology Poised to Change Cabling
[0.27]
by clint,July 29, 2011 09:03
- There are a lot of things wrong with HDMI. For one, the technology keeps pushing the limits of what a standard non-active cable can handle - this is especially true when HDMI is used over long distances. Some manufacturers have turned to making extra-thick, well-shielded solutions that utilize 22 gauge cables. The results of that method have been tragic - cables don't bend easily and they are generally unwieldy and impractical for most uses. So what's next? Well, almost any cable will work over a 2 meter or less distance, but beyond that things start to get dicey. That's where active HDMI cables come into play. While active EQ on HDMI cables isn't new, possibly the most advanced use of it is coming out of RedMere, who has shrunken down the technology to a point that it's all but negligible.

Cable Keeper Review: A Hip Cable Organization Solution
[0.27]
by cliff,June 29, 2014 09:00
- As the name implies, the Cable Keeper seeks to remedy the mess of cables that are part and parcel of being an electronics junkie, installer, or Audioholic. In short, it's a functional and stylish solution for organizing and transporting cables. There are some limitations of course. The Cable Keeper isn't designed to accommodate long, thick cables; however, most anything under 15' should fit. I see it being particularly useful for those who frequently find themselves digging around a drawer for a specific cable, or taking cables and other small electronics to and from home or the workplace.

Before you start groaning, don't worry, Dina participated in the podcast as well and offers her unique perspective. Some of the topics include Panasonic's partnership with James Cameron. LG's wireless TV. Monster Cables admits they are wrong... sort of. Oh, and Toshiba's definition of what the customer wants and why we think they are asking the wrong people. Calling BS on Snake Oil Cables
[0.27]
by clint,October 02, 2007 12:53
- We like to rant, but rarely does a rant result in some pretty productive "put your money where you mouth is" results as it did this week. Dave Clark, Editor of now-disgraced audio review publication Positive Feedback Online described, in his recent review, a $7,250 pair of ANJOU speaker cables as being "... way better than anything I have heard..." He then, in a not-so-rare example of audiophile thesaurus-crunching loquacity, "Simply put these are very danceable cables. Music playing through them results in the proverbial foot-tapping scene with the need or desire to get up and move. Great swing and pace--these cables smack that right on the nose big time."
