Legacy Silhouette On-Wall Speaker Preview

Legacy Audio unveiled their new Silhouette On-Wall speakers at CEDIA 2015 in Dallas, Texas.  The speakers at Legacy's booth show the thought that goes into each product to take advantage of space in a room. The engineering behind the Silhouette speaker focus on form factor, but judging by their internal components this is without compromising function.   

The low profile Silhouette  utilizes a 3 way passive radiator system to drive a 4” tweeter, 7” Silver/Graphite cast frame mid and a 10” long throw low-profile bass. The whole speaker is just over 5 inches deep showing the versatility of the design for applications that involve an area where floorstanding speakers would be impossible and in-wall installation just isn’t an option.

The custom engineered 10" woofer employs a special magnetic structure to reduce its depth to a mere 3.5". The 4" AMT ribbon tweeter & the 7" midrange are the very same used in the Focus SE system reviewed by Audioholics in 2013.

The On-Wall speakers pair nicely with their On-Wall center channel speaker.  The three-way design features two 8” mass loaded radiators to lay the foundation supporting two higi acceleration 7” silver/graphite midrange drivers.  Treble comes from the 4” Legacy AMT ribbon boasting a high temperature pleated Kapton diaphragm and neodymium motor.

The system can be ordered in satin black, white, or a wide range of wood veneers to complement any décor and is available now for shipping. At $4160/pr for the On-Wall speakers and $2,080 for the On-Wall center channel, the Silhouette is an appealing and functional alternative for discriminating audiophiles with tight spaces and people with an affinity for clean designs.
