KEF Ci4100QL-THX In-Wall Speaker Preview

When I saw KEF's new Ci4100QL-THX In-Wall speaker this week at the 2016 CEDIA EXPO show in Dallas, Texas, I thought there there was a misprint. A speaker from KEF with Select 2 THX certification and a 4” Uni-Q driver array and three 4” bass drivers with a price of $600/each? Maybe if you add another zero on the end!

The Ci4100QL-THX speaker features KEF’s Uni-Q driver that is designed to enable the mid-range and tweeter to act as a single point source. The goal of this patented technology is to allow the listener to sit anywhere in the room and still enjoy the systems sound and clarity without having to be positioned in the narrow “sweet-spot” found with some conventional speaker designs.

The Ci4100QL-THX should easily fit into any standard wall cavity. We really liked it’s slim size and profile which would make it a great speaker for front and rear channels or even as a center channel speaker when mounted horizontally.  Think of it, you can have three great sounding matching LCR's behind you're wall without the visible eyesore of a box speaker system.

All KEF Ci architectural speakers feature an ultra thin bezel (UTB) trim, including the Ci4100QL-THX, and are manufactured to Marine Grade Construction standards: The grilles are corrosion resistant, the speakers include moisture-resistant terminations and finish materials, and the plastics are UV protected. The Ci4100QL-THX has been built to withstand harsh salt-spray and humid environments, allowing you to safely use these speakers in applications other speakers in its price-range simply cannot be considered for – such as bathrooms, poolside or in your yacht!
