Living in Florida offers access to some of the world’s most famous movie-themed amusement parks, including Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. These attractions, located primarily in the Orlando area, are iconic symbols of entertainment, drawing visitors from across the globe. Yes, we have to deal with almost daily interactions with some form of a YouTube-famous “Florida Man,” as well as the heat, hurricanes, and elderly people driving too slowly in the left-hand lane. But for residents, what is a rare vacation destination for others becomes a local weekend getaway. Instead of planning and saving for months or years to visit these parks, Floridians can simply drive a short distance to enjoy the attractions.

One of the most exciting aspects of living near these parks is the constantly evolving nature of the attractions. Disney and Universal Studios are continually expanding and updating their offerings to reflect new movies, technological advancements, and visitor demand. For example, Universal Studios recently introduced the VelociCoaster, based on the Jurassic World franchise, and Disney opened the Tron Lightcycle / Run, an innovative roller coaster inspired by the Tron films.

Now, Netflix is set to make a bold move into physical entertainment on a smaller scale with the launch of Netflix House, its first-ever immersive entertainment venues. Opening in 2025, the first two locations will be in Dallas, Texas, and King of Prussia, Pennsylvania (What! No Orlando, Florida?). These spaces will allow fans to dive into their favorite Netflix shows through interactive experiences, themed dining, and exclusive merchandise.

The venues will feature popular series like Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and Squid Game, offering visitors the chance to explore iconic settings and participate in themed activities, such as waltzing in a Bridgerton ballroom or competing in a Squid Game challenge. Each Netflix House will span over 100,000 square feet, taking up former department stores, and will include eye-catching sculptures and murals based on beloved characters.

Imagine waltzing with your partner to an orchestral cover of a Taylor Swift song on a replica of the Bridgerton set –– and then walking around the corner to compete in the Glass Bridge challenge from Squid Game. After pretending to fight for your life, you’ve worked up an appetite and want to get a bite. You see a nearby restaurant with food inspired by Netflix shows from around the world; the meal is memorable, but you still want to buy some Stranger Things merch. Luckily, there’s a shop that sells that Hellfire Club T-shirt you’ve always wanted.

This venture is Netflix's attempt to extend its brand beyond streaming and into experiential retail, following the success of pop-up events and temporary exhibits in cities around the world. Current experiments from Netflix’s marketing department include a live-action stage play prequel to Stranger Things, a Bridgerton High Tea in London, a Knives Out-themed mystery dinner party, and a virtual reality Army of the Dead experience in Las Vegas. These experiences have been well-received, allowing Netflix the opportunity to create a new revenue stream and deepen audience engagement with Netflix’s intellectual properties.

At Netflix House, you can enjoy regularly updated immersive experiences, indulge in retail therapy, and get a taste — literally — of your favorite Netflix series and films through unique food and drink offerings. “We’ve launched more than 50 experiences in 25 cities, and Netflix House represents the next generation of our distinctive offerings. The venues will bring our beloved stories to life in new, ever-changing, and unexpected ways.

-Marian Lee, Netflix’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Netflix selected the locations because they are part of two of the most popular shopping centers in America, boasting hundreds of retailers, high foot traffic, and proximity to major cities. The two sites are set to open in 2025, but who knows — maybe Netflix will expand to Florida with NetflixLand or even NetflixWorld.
