We're always on some crusade to get our friends to wall-mount their flat-panel televisions. But we often wondered about the newer 80" screens... how on earth do you mount those? The answer: carefully. But aside from that, you need a mount that can handle the weight. And then, if you want maneuverability of the display, you need something that doesn't really exist - or at least it didn't exist until this week. Premier Mounts debuted an addition to its family of articulating flat-panel mounts specifically geared towards displays over 65" in size: the AM500 Mega Mount - a mount capable of supporting displays up to 500 pounds (226.8 kg). If Superman were a display mount, he'd be this one... and he'd be in my living room.
The all-new articulating wall mount accommodates extra large displays ranging from 65" to a full 103” (still no joy for those new ginormous 4K plasmas from Samsung). Even with this type of capacity, this is still a fairly low-profile mount that features full forward extension of over 15" (381 mm) from the wall to access displays for service and alignment. I can't imagine floating a 500 pound TV off the wall with full tilt capabilities - this is one strong mount! You can also keep cables and electrical components organized in one place and prevent cable pinching with the built-in cable management.
The mount has a full left to right pivot movement thanks to its double, articulating elliptical-tube arms. It also features both a positive and negative tilt adjustment to always have the optimal viewing angle and account for involuntary display tilt due to equipment weight. Though have got to be some hefty controls. A truly revolutionary mount, it allows for displays to be rotated and positioned in landscape, portrait, or any other arbitrary angled orientation with a 360° rotating mounting head. This seems like a great option for digital signage displays, residential, and corporate installations.
Different mounting brackets are available to support larger display sizes. (See AM501 or AM502; only one bracket is included with each configuration).
