Auralex HD Cinema Series Panels Preview

We've covered Auralex Acoustics a bunch in the past and they've always impressed us as a premier innovator in sound control solutions. At CEDIA, in addition to their new Sustain Bamboo Diffusors, they also showed off their new HD Cinema Series line of acoustical panels. The new panels are specifically designed to cater to the audiophile and home theater market through the use of a variety of shapes and sizes that should have a wide appeal to those looking to tame room acoustics and achieve better sound reproduction. We saw them in person and they are really attractive and present an almost limitless way to increase both the aesthetics and room acoustics of a room.

In a nutshell, Auralex’s new HD Cinema Series is a complete line of fabric-wrapped fiberglass panels that provide an overall Noise Coefficient Rating (NRC) of 1.05. The HD Cinema Series come in several unique shapes, but the real appeal is that, like many of Auralex's other products, the new panels can be ordered in any of hundreds of custom colors. In addition, each shape is available in an assortment of sizes so that the system can cater to the myriad of sizes and shapes that are encountered in various rooms.

An example would be the Ruby 36 and Ruby 48 trapezoidal shaped panels, which have a 12" difference in length. The Diamond 24 and Diamond 30 are, as you'd guess, diamond-shaped panels that give you more options and the Emerald 24 and Emerald 36 bring the more traditional rectangular shaped panels to the line. There are also an Emerald 48 square shaped panel, Sapphire S36 and Sapphire S48 single arched panels, and Sapphire D36 and Sapphire D48 double arched panels. There are tons of shapes and sizes to choose from, and you can really build something beautiful and personalized. You can also double up the panels for a really interesting and, in our opinion, striking look. We loved how the new panels came across and the value isn't bad either, with Auralex offering, as an option, custom proposals for the best possible room acoustics solution on a per-room evaluative basis.
